Hello everyone! As you are all aware, Stittsville Small Animal Clinic is currently undergoing a change of ownership, having been recently purchased by Dr. Erica Gallagher and Dr. Ann McKenna. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves as the new owners and to welcome you all. Our goal is to continue to provide the same compassionate and friendly environment, as well as introduce some new and modern services to give your pets the best care possible. It was with regret that we were not able to keep Drs. Randall and Stevenson with us, as the workload at the practice cannot support that many part time doctors at this time. We hope to be able to bring them back to the team in the near future through the expansion of clinic hours and services. Fortunately we are able to keep our full time associate veterinarian, Dr. Catherine MacKinnon, who many of you are familiar with.

Dr. Ann McKenna was born and raised in Quebec City, making her fluently bilingual in English and French. She is a 1999 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and has since practiced in Quebec City, Florida, and now Ottawa. Her special interests include internal medicine, feline medicine, preventative care, routine surgery (spay/neuter), and client education. Dr. McKenna is a very compassionate person and client relationships are of utmost importance to her. Her experiences include working in a feline only practice and working at the Ottawa spay/neuter clinic. Outside of work Ann and her husband Simon, a veterinary technician, are proud “parents” of multiple rescued dogs and cats. In addition to spending time with her family, Ann loves to bike and run, play tennis, and enjoys many other aspects of an active lifestyle.

Dr. Erica Gallagher was born and raised in Ottawa. Despite wanting to be a veterinarian since the age of 3, Dr. Gallagher attended Canterbury High School for the dramatic for 2 years before switching over to the sciences in preparation for attending university. She attended the University of Guelph in the Animal Biology department before being accepted to the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998. Erica graduated top 10 in her class in 2003 and moved back to Ottawa to begin her career. Dr. Gallagher spent the first 7 years of her career working in emergency medicine and critical care before transitioning over to general practice in 2010. Her main interests lie in internal medicine, and she has extensive experience with ultrasound, endoscopy, and regenerative medicine. Outside of the clinic, Erica shares her life with her husband Jon, young twins Owen and Quinn, dog Guinness, and old tabby cat Felix. She enjoys travelling, horseback riding, camping, and socializing with friends.

Both Ann and Erica are thrilled and excited to join the wonderful family at SSAC and hope to contribute knowledge, enthusiasm, and leadership to this already exceptional team. We hope to meet all of you soon, and look forward to a long relationship with all our fantastic clients and pets. Please feel free to call or email the clinic any time for more information.
